Why suppliers join Marketplace
Why suppliers join Marketplace
Small and large businesses can join Marketplace as suppliers, and you do not need a record of working with government. But you will still need to compete with other suppliers.
What types of businesses can join Marketplace?
One of the guiding principles of Marketplace is that it is open to any and all businesses that meet the entry criteria for each Marketplace channel.
Helping smaller businesses
The online application process and low barrier to entry provides smaller businesses with a good opportunity to offer their services and products directly to the government agencies that require them.
Local or international
All suppliers of services and products have to meet the same eligibility criteria, regardless if they are a New Zealand business or if they are internationally owned or based.
No existing contracts needed
You don’t need an existing contract with government to offer services or products through Marketplace.
All suppliers go through the application process to join Marketplace, whether they have worked for government before or not.
Competing for business
The aim of Marketplace is to make it easier for you to offer your services and products to the government agencies that want them. But you will still need to compete with other suppliers offering similar services and products.
You must be aware that becoming a supplier on Marketplace does not create any minimum purchasing or volume commitment by any Eligible and or Purchasing Agency.
Criteria for application
Before you start the application process to become a supplier on Marketplace, you need to ensure that your business meets all the application criteria.
